MNF: Two Task Force Liberty Soldiers killed, three wounded (confirmed)

TIKRIT, Iraq – Two Task Force Liberty Soldiers were killed and three were wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated near a vehicle patrol near Samarra at about 6:00 p.m. on August 6. The Soldiers were evacuated to a Coalition Forces medical facility where two Soldiers died of wounds sustained in the attack.

Two U.S. Soldiers Killed in Central Iraq

A roadside bomb killed two U.S. soldiers and injured three in central Iraq, the U.S. command said Sunday.

The patrol with Task Force Liberty was hit Saturday evening in the city of Samarra, about 60 miles north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.

All the soldiers were transported to a coalition medical facility where two of them died from wounds sustained in the attack, the statement said.
