IndyChannel.com -- A fallen Hoosier hero was honored and remembered in a ceremony Monday morning, almost two years after he was killed in Iraq.
The U.S. Marine Corps and Indiana House of Representatives memorialized Pfc. Deryk Hallal, 24, by awarding him posthumously with a Bronze Star.

Originally, from Billings Montana now living in Muncie Indiana. Graduate of Billings West High in 1976. In the Marines Reserves from August 1975 to 1981. Co. B 4th Recon. Bn. 4th MarDiv. In May of 1987 I joined the Navy. I was onboard the USS Midway from June 1988 to 1991, with a tour of duty in the Persian Gulf during the first Gulf War. Got out of the Navy in 1995.
