The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier, who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Master Sgt. Chris S. Chapin, 39, of Proctor, Vt., died on Aug. 23, 2005, in Ar Ramadi, Iraq during combat operations when he was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire.
