Woman Fired From Job For Taking Time Off To Spend With Husband On Leave From Iraq
A Jessamine County woman is looking for work after being forced to make a tough decision - take two days to spend time with her husband on leave from Iraq, or lose her job.
Shirley Blankenship thought 10 years of service at McClane Cumberland, a distribution company, was enough to get her a couple of days off to be with her husband David before he returned to Iraq.
"Ever since I worked for them they said we're for family," said Blankenship. "But they wasn't for my family."
Staff sergeant David Blankenship has spent eight years of service in the National Guard, the last six months as a member of the 213th transportation unit out of Paduca

Obviously corporate Republicans don't give a shit about anything but bottom line profits. What a joke- "we're for family".
Hopefully, this lady will get this story out there. She'll have plenty of job offers. This story reminds me of the lady who was fired by her bush-lovin' boss for sporting a Kerry bumper sticker on her car before the last election theft.
There's another Republican law in place that needs to be destroyed- "AT WILL" EMPLOYMENT.
