House panel gives preliminary approval to CAFTA
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A controversial free trade agreement with Central America cleared its first hurdle in the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, as the U.S. Congress edged toward final votes on the pact in coming weeks.
The House Ways and Means Committee approved a draft bill to implement the U.S.-Central American Free Trade Agreement, or CAFTA, by a vote of 25-16. Two Democrats joined crossed party lines to join Republicans in support of the pact, while one Republican voted against it.
CAFTA is bad for the U.S.. More reasons for big business to out source Jobs!
